About the Job
Purpose:
The Adult Basketball League Coordinator & Referee is responsible for coordinating and overseeing adult basketball league activities while ensuring games are conducted in a safe, organized, fair, and professional manner. The position combines league administration with on- court officiating to provide participants with a positive and competitive basketball experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee adult basketball league games each Thursday evening.
  • Arrive on time and ensure the gym, court, equipment, and game materials are ready.
  • Serve as the referee/official for assigned games and enforce league rules consistently.
  • Maintain control of games and promote good sportsmanship and respectful conduct.
  • Manage team check-ins, and player participation.
  • Communicate with team captains, players, facility staff, and league management.
  • Address routine game day questions, scheduling concerns, and player issues.
  • Keep accurate records of game results, scores, standings, and incidents as required.
  • Monitor player and spectator behavior and respond appropriately to conflicts or rule violations.
  • Ensure league policies and safety procedures are followed.
  • Report injuries, serious incidents, or disciplinary issues to the sports director.
  • Help maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment for all participants.
  • Perform other basketball league related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience playing, coaching, officiating, or coordinating basketball is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basketball rules and game procedures.
  • Ability to confidently officiate adult recreational basketball games.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and impartial during competitive situations.
  • Dependable and punctual, with the ability to consistently work Thursday evenings.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced recreational environment.
  • Comfortable interacting with adult players, team captains, staff, and spectators.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Must be physically capable of performing referee duties, including standing and moving throughout games.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
  • Position: Part-Time
  • Day: Thursday
  • Hours: 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM
  • Hours per week: 2.5
  • Pay: $35–$40 per hour
