POSITION SUMMARY:
The Homework Support Teacher will work with children in grades K–6 enrolled in the Riverdale Y’s after-school program to ensure all homework is completed each day. This role requires patience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to support a wide range of learners with varying needs and abilities. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, structured, and supportive environment that helps children stay focused and build confidence in their academic skills.

The Homework Support Teacher will work Monday–Thursday from 3:30–6:00 PM. If all homework is completed before dismissal, the teacher may leave early. Pay rate is $30/hour.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and support children (grades K–6) during homework time in the after-school program.
Provide individualized attention to students as needed to ensure understanding and task completion.
Encourage good study habits, focus, and independence in completing assignments.
Communicate with after-school staff about any academic challenges or patterns observed.
Maintain a calm and positive learning environment that promotes respect and focus.
Dismiss students back to the classroom once all homework is completed and checked.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or background in education/tutoring preferred.
Prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational or after-school setting.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple grade levels simultaneously.
Patient, flexible, and supportive approach to learning.
